I hear changes are coming for the Cal MediConnect Plan in CA. What are they?
- You are correct
- At the end of 2022, your Cal MediConnect plan is changing into a matching Medicare Medi-Cal plan provided by Health Net’s Medicare Plan, Wellcare. You will also have a Medi-cal plan with Health Net starting January 1, 2023.
- These new Medicare Medi-Cal plans are designed to coordinate care for people with both Medicare and Medi-Cal. You will still get the same health care benefits as you do today
- If you are in Cal MediConnect today, you do NOT need to do anything to enroll into the matching plans. This change will happen automatically
- You should have received letters about the changes beginning in September this year. Please read them carefully as they will tell you everything and as always, if you have questions, please call us back.
My plan is ending at the end of the year and will not be available. Do I need to do anything?
- You do not need to do anything and will not lose any coverage
- You will get all your services through Cal MediConnect until December 31, 2022. Then on January 1, 2023, you will automatically start getting services through your matching plans instead.
- If you are in Cal MediConnect today, you do NOT need to do anything to enroll into the matching plans.This change will happen automatically.
- You will get notices/letters about the changes beginning in September this year.

Will I have to change my doctors?
- Most of the doctors you see today will be available in your new plan.
- If you have been seeing a provider who does not accept the new plan, you can see them for up to 12 months in most cases.
- Please call us if you would like us to check for you.
Will I lose my in home (IHSS) Provider or Services?
- NO- There is no change to your current in home/IHSS Provider/Services or other services you get from Medi-cal Fee for Service.
What if I don’t want to be in the plan the letters tell me I will be moved to?
- The Letter you got in October will include the plan options available

- Don’t forget, the Medicare Medi-Cal plans are designed to coordinate care for people with both Medicare and Medi-Cal. You will still get the same health care benefits as you do today and more.
